AGM 2012

The Annual General Meeting was held at the Masonic Centre, Canterbury, on Saturday 15th September 2012

The Chairman, Andrew Notley, welcomed everyone to the meeting, particularly the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Geoffrey Dearing and his Deputy, Very Worshipful Brother Roger Odd. He apologised to everyone who had turned up at the Westgate Hall to attend the meeting. Only three days beforehand it had been discovered that the new owners of the Westgate Hall had double booked the Hall! Tribute was paid to the management committee and the caterer of the Canterbury Centre for accommodating the meeting and the following luncheon at such short notice and to Eddie Baker for the arrangements which he had made to overcome all associated problems.

The Chairman went on to thank all those who had made it possible to achieve such a magnificent result in the redevelopment of the Museum and looked forward to the future. Financial pledges had already been made and the Association of Patrons formed. Volunteer staff had been found to maintain the Museum and the Library and it was hoped that the Museum could be opened for seven days a week, for which more volunteers were sought, particularly for the weekends with a commitment of about one day per month.

Those in attendance were encouraged to go back to their lodges and sing its praises, to organise a group visit, perhaps with their ladies, and to combine it with a lunch or dinner in the Centre Dining Room. Lodge Mentors should especially encourage all new Brethren to visit with their Proposer or Seconder. In an hour they could learn so much about Freemasonry, as could prospective members.
