The Provincial Grand Master's Charity Fund

The focus of the Provincial Grand Master’s Charity Fund has always been on the provision of a fund for immediate assistance in the event of a disaster occurring within the Province. In more recent years the Discretionary Awards Fund was transferred to the Provincial Grand Master’s Charity thereby making additional funds, for more general distribution, to worthy charities. Disasters are thankfully rare but the disaster fund remains ready to be distributed, should an event occur. Regular, annual payments have been made from the general funds held in support of local charities.

During the year, discussions have taken place with the objective of merging the Provincial Grand Master’s Charity into the new charity fund being created for the Province. In the new structure the Disaster Relief fund will be ring-fenced and the balance will be used to support local charities, as has happened in the past. It is anticipated that the new Charity will begin operating sometime in 2013 after which the Provincial Grand Master’s Charity will be closed.
