Personal

Born in 1951 at Lowestoft, Suffolk, the birthplace of Benjamin Britten; married to Susan, with one daughter Sara and two step children Daniel & Rebecca and (so far) one Granddaughter Amelie.

 

As the eldest Son of a Military man in the Corps of Royal Engineers and with extensive travel throughout the UK and BAOR was educated at several different schools. His favourite school was the Paston Grammar School, North Walsham, Norfolk, to which he returns each year for the Old Boys re-union dinner, held on the nearest Saturday to Trafalgar Day, Admiral the Lord Nelson being its most famous former pupil.

 

After a brief spell in the Corps of Royal Engineers, he went into the shipping and forwarding industry as a Customs Broker culminating in his becoming a partner in his own Company.

 

He is a qualified Financial Adviser and also assists his wife in running her business.

Personal

His sporting and other interests are numerous but are mainly;

Rugby (Union) – member of Dover RFC for over 35 years as player, committee member and now a Vice President.

Water Polo – played for Dover and now just watches (in envy)

Cycling – has completed the London to Brighton in aid of the British Heart Foundation, once cycled from Dover to Dartmoor and is now a fair-weather cyclist.

Bird Watching – member of the RSPB for many years and member of the Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory Trust.

Photography Visiting Art Galleries

Music – a big passion, particularly Modern Jazz, Opera and Classical Music. Also has an Alto Saxophone that he plays badly.

Singing – has been known to sing the Masters and the Ladies song.

History – particularly the English Civil War and visiting Historic buildings.

 

A former member of Dover Operatic & Dramatic Society and the Dover Choral Society and a Governor of Whitfield Primary School for 5 years
