Provincial Grand Charity Steward
Worshipful Bro. Stewart Cale PGStB

Initiated into the Tuscan Lodge No. 6067, Province of Essex, in 1974 by his
father. Moved to Ashford and later Wye, joined South Kent Lodge No. 4303 in
1977. Installed as WM in 1986. Charity Steward 1991 to date.
Treasurer of Ashford Masonic Hall Management Committee 1988 to date. Chairman
of the building and catering sub-committees, treasurer of the Ashford Masonic
Club, which holds the licence.
Founder member of Essetesforde Lodge No. 9746 in 2001. Charity Steward 2001 to
date.

Personal
Born in Essex to Mancunian parents. Educated at the Royal Liberty School and
University of London, graduated with a BSc(Eng.) degree in civil engineering.
Worked for a number of consulting civil engineering firms before joining his
current practice. Became a partner and later a director on incorporation of a
number of companies in the UK and overseas. Travelled extensively worldwide in
the course of his business. Now serves as a part-time consultant.
Qualified as a Chartered Engineer, appointed a Member and then a Fellow of the
Institution of Civil Engineers. A Fellow of the Institute of Materials,
Minerals and Mining. Appointed to the Supervising Panel and later the All
Reservoirs Panel under the Reservoirs Act. Still a member of that panel. A
member of the British Dam Society.
Sometime member of the British Geotechnical Association, the American Society
of Civil Engineers, Registered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of
Engineers in Zambia and member of various technical and professional
committees. During his career he lived in Africa for 3 years and has had the
opportunity and pleasure of visiting over 50 countries worldwide on all
continents in the course of his business.
Married Lilian in 1967, recently celebrated 40 years of happy marriage. She
has been immensely supportive in his professional and Masonic careers. One
daughter and one grandchild. Hobbies include restoring a Mini Cooper,
international leisure travel, golf when time permits and genealogy.
