Section 1. Personal and Professional
Family: Born in 1953. Married to Gill. Has a son in his thirties who lives with his wife in Manchester,
and a daughter, also in her thirties, who lives in Kent with her boyfriend. One grand-son and three grand-dogs!
Two former stray cats who occasionally let him use the settee.
Sport: Founding Chairman of the Vice Presidents Association at Medway Rugby Club, where he previously
played as a forward for many years. Qualified in 1997 as a member of Kent Society of Rugby Football Union Referees,
but no longer active. Chairman of the Rugby section of the East Kent Provincial Sports Association.
Former occasional tennis player. Active countryside and hill walker. A great believer in the benefit of
sport for all.
Community: Formerly Vice Chairman of his Parish Council. Supports a number of animal and child
welfare charities.
Business: Senior Partner of a Management Consultancy which specialises in Headhunting and
Executive recruitment. Chairman of a Machinery and Fire Safety business. As a “hobby-business” he
also provides commercial writing and editing services.
Loves: The company of family and friends, people with integrity, Freemasonry, rugby, animals,
country and fell walking with his wife, a wide range of music (from opera to rock),
playing the guitar, and good food and drink.
Hates: People with no integrity, injustice, bullying, cruelty, petty mindedness, TV Soaps, and the M25.
He feels that it is important for everyone to be passionate about something in their life to give it purpose,
and considers himself to be immensely lucky that he has several passions: His wife, family, and friends; Freemasonry;
Child welfare; Animal welfare; Rugby; Music; Life.
Section 2. Masonic
Craft: Initiated into the Agricola Lodge 4501 at Maidstone in 1994, became
Worshipful Master in 2000, and was Secretary from 2004 to 2009. Member of East Kent Masters Lodge.
Member of Kent Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge. Member of East Kent Scriveners Lodge. Appointed
Provincial Grand Steward in 2004. Appointed Provincial Senior Grand Warden in 2008. Appointed
Assistant Provincial Grand Master in 2010. Appointed Past Junior Grand Deacon in Grand Lodge 2010.
Holy Royal Arch: Exalted into Agricola Chapter at Maidstone in 1998, where he is a Past First Principal. Joined Brockley Chapter at Great Queen Street, London in 2001, where he was First Principal for two consecutive years in 2004 and 2005, and where he is currently Scribe "E". Appointed to London Grand Chapter Rank in April 2011. A member of London First Principals Chapter, and of the Commemoration Chapter of Installed Principals which meets in Hythe.
Other Masonic Orders:
Rose Croix, S.R.I.A. (Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia), and Mark. A member of the Masonic Telecoms Association.
Significant Masonic Jobs:
Area Information Officer for Maidstone, Paddock Wood, and West Malling (2003 – 2006).
Editor of The Provincial magazine (2006 – present).
Chairman of the joint West and East Kent organising team for the Freemasons’ stand at the Kent Show (2008 and 2009).
Financial Director then Deputy Chairman of Maidstone Masonic Centre Ltd (1999 – 2010).
Permanent England correspondent for Romania’s national Masonic magazine Masonic Forum
(2010 – current).
APGM responsible for the Kent Library & Museum of Freemasonry (2010 – 2011).
Currently APGM responsible for internal and external communications, PR and publicity.
