MENTORING IS COMING TO A CENTRE NEAR YOU

Lecture and Feedback Evenings

The evening of Thursday 31st January saw W Bro John Reuther deliver an extremely informative “back to basics” lecture on a range of Masonic topics of great interest to new and established freemasons alike. The large audience, predominantly drawn from the two centres involved in the mentoring pilot, listened attentive while W Bro John related the early history of Freemasonry, the origins of the layout of the lodge, the significance of lodge jewels and the different regalia we wear. The lecture was followed by an excellent buffet which provided everyone with a convivial opportunity to meet some new faces and reflect on what they had listened to earlier. It was clear from the feedback that the event should be repeated again in other parts of the Province.

The evening was arranged by W Bro Bill Laidler, Secretary of the Gundulph Lodge No 1050, in response to popular demand from the lodges involved in the mentoring pilot. The evening was also attended by VW Bro Peter Brooshooft, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W Bro Reg Walter and other members of the Provincial Development Group, and everyone agreed that the event was a great success both in terms of widening their Masonic knowledge and encouraging more fellowship between individuals and lodges. The Provincial Development Group would like to thank all those involved in making the evening such a success, especially W Bro John Reuther for sparing his valuable time.

Seen below is W Bro Reg Walter holding court with some of those attending the evening, including, on the extreme right of the picture W Bro Keith Rixson, Co-ordinator of the Gravesend Cluster and W Bro Richard Carney, co-ordinator of the Maidstone cluster and W Bro David Horne who is assisting him.

Mentoring Feedback Evening at the Sittingbourne Centre
The mentoring feedback evening at the Sittingbourne Masonic Centre on the 9th November last year provided the opportunity for all those involved in the mentoring pilot, as well as their wives and partners, to share their thoughts and experiences on mentoring with our Provincial Grand Master, members of the Provincial Executive, and the Provincial Development Group. The feedback gained on the evening was extremely useful in formulating the rollout of the Mentoring Framework that is currently taking place.
