Dover Freemasons Raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease. Dover Freemasons who are members of the Lodge of Peace and Harmony No.199, have raised £1,000 towards funding research into Motor Neurone Disease. A cheque for this amount was presented by Sandra Thorne, and WBro Graham Dutton, who is the current Master of the Lodge, to James West, representative of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. The Motor Neurone Disease Association has been recognised for over 100 years. Sadly however, in many cases there is still no cure, effective treatment or therapies available. Bro Brian Thorne of the Lodge of Peace and Harmony, became aware of the plight of one sufferer, Stella Macri, who was being cared for by his wife Sandra. Stella Macri was diagnosed with Motor Neurone disease and sadly died earlier this year, having bravely fought the disease since August 2000. Brian Thorne commented on behalf of the Lodge of Peace and Harmony, "We were all very saddened to hear of yet another death from Motor Neurone Disease and we hope that our donation to the charity will help in some small way towards funding further research." Anyone wishing to send donations towards funding further research into Motor Neurone Disease may contact The Motor Neurone Disease Association, Fundraising Dept, (Research), P0 box 246, Northampton, NN1 2PR, or telephone 01604 250505, or email:- fundraising@mndassociation.org WBro Brian W Powell PPrJGW
