DINNER AT THE MUSICALS

Saturday 22nd September saw the very welcome return of the popular Dinner at the Musicals evening at the Winter Gardens, Margate. A packed house sat down to a sumptuous four course dinner whilst being royally entertained by the members of singing group Cameo Opera, who took the diners through a wide variety of music from Verdi to Lloyd Webber, and from Puccini to Gershwin. There were popular songs from Les Miserable, My Fair Lady, and Phantom of the Opera as well as arrangements of individual songs such as Simon and Garfunkle's Scarborough Fair, sung as a soprano and mezzo soprano duet, to the sublime accompaniment of pianist Carol Anne Wells.

Particularly popular with the audience were the well known arias such as Nessum Dorma, the Flower Duet, and the ever popular duet from The Pearl Fishers.

Perhaps the most entertaining highlight of the evening was when Baritone Matthew Craven persuaded around twenty five male diners to join him on stage to sing A Policeman's Lot, which on this occasion was most definitely a very happy one!

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, and sincere thanks went out to WBro Sean Frampton and his organising team for their hard work which led to such a successful event. The Provincial Grand Master was delighted with the evening, and hopes that even more Brethren will attend next time, with their families and friends.
