60 Year Certificate - Bro George Arnold-Cooke

Bro. George Arnold-Cooke was presented with his Certificate for 60 years in Freemasonry by the Provincial Grand Master, Rt. W Bro. Michael Robin Bailey, on Wednesday 13th. February 2008 at the regular meeting of St. Michael’s Lodge No. 1273.

George was initiated into Liversage Lodge No. 5027 in Derby on Monday 15th. December 1947. Over the years work took him around the southern half of England and when he settled for long enough he joined the local Lodge. Hence in Feburary 1957 he joined St. Hugh Lodge No. 1386 in Lincoln and in January 1973 he joined Cherchefelle Lodge No. 6543 in Nutfield near Redhill, Surrey. He joined St. Michael’s Lodge No. 1273 in Sittingbourne in March 1982, so he has been an East Kent Mason longest of all, just over 25 years.

The meeting was a wide table meeting to which family and friends may be invited, with the presentation occurring in open Lodge in the presence of his daughter Rilla Elliott, his son-in-law W Bro. Tony Elliott, his two eldest grandsons Andy and Jon Elliott and his nephew from Derby W Bro. Paul Woolfrey.

It was a most splendid evening with Bro. George managing to stay the course despite having handicapped himself by having a fall two days prior, resulting in a black eye, always remembering that he celebrated his 99th. birthday on the 24th. January 2008.
