Belvidere goes Platinum

A 2014 Festival First

Belvidere Lodge No. 503 has the proud distinction of being the first Lodge in East Kent Province to receive the platinum award for the 2014 Festival.

The Lodge has raised the sum of £32,000.

The award was presented to Belvidere’s Charity Steward, WBro Mick Packham, by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, VWBro Roger Odd, at the regular meeting of the Lodge on the 8th November 2011. Also in attendance were Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, WBros Brian Powell and Roger Waltham.

A citation from the Provincial Grand Master, RWBro Geoffrey Gordon Dearing, was read out by the Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies, WBro Alan Kilburn.

VWBro Roger gave the Lodge his warmest congratulations. He recalled examples of charitable donations that the Province had been able to make. To see at first hand the difference this made to the recipients brought a tear to his eye. Presenting the silver, gold and platinum certificates, a “hat trick” for Belvidere, he gave a gentle hint that there was time for the Lodge, if it felt able, to raise even more money.

WBro Brian Powell also addressed the brethren in similar vein, offering his congratulations for the effort that the Lodge had put into raising so much money.

During the meeting Past Masters of the Lodge, in accordance with their tradition in November, performed the ceremony, on this occasion of the First Degree, with WBro Phil Sayer, Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies, acting as Master.
