Erasmus Wilson's Special Evening

Reg Walter, Vic Spencer, WM J Piggott, Roger Odd
The Erasmus Wilson Lodge No, 1464 in Gravesend had a unique and memorable evening at their meeting on the 17th November 2011, with a special guest in the person of the Deputy Provincial Grand Master,V W Bro. Roger Odd.
Not only was there an initiation, there was also the presentation of a Fifty Year Service Certificate to WBro Vic Spencer by WBro Reg. Walter, who had researched and produced a “This is Your Life” book for Vic who, although 95, still regularly attends and enjoys lodge meetings and the Festive Board.
The third major event of the evening (although chronologically the first) was the unveiling by Roger Odd of a new lodge drape for the Master’s pedestal.
Roger declared that this was one of the must unusual things he had undertaken in his official roles, particularly as the drape has the lodge crest beautifully embroidered on its front, rather than just the name and number.
When explaining the origin of the crest, Roger was able to draw a comparison between his own career as a Pharmacist with that of Erasmus Wilson, the founder of the lodge and the originator of the crest, who also started his working life as a pharmacist.
The work in the temple was followed by a lively Festive Board, thoroughly enjoyed by all.
